This blog contains all my recent experimental “explorations in the art of badassery”, which are usually a bunch of hits and misses. Any fanart or collaboration entries I make will be labeled as such. Other than that, I’ll just drop the legal stuff here:

About the artist:
I’m a Toronto-based freelance artist with an ambition to create and or take part in projects I can call a “labour of love”. Although I’m somewhat new to the comic industry, this isn’t my first time working on a title as a colourist.

The last book I coloured was a mini-series called “Rotogin: Junkbotz” with Jay Lee and J.Korim at Sunscript Studios/Switchstance INC.

Right now I’m a lead colourist on a new title called “Neozoic” at Red5 comics. It’s written by Paul Ens of “Star Wars: Evasive Action” fame and drawn by “Rotogin: Junkbotz” penciller J.Korim.

About the name:
Just in case anyone was wondering what the name “aXL99″ stood for, it all started off as “archangel_xl99″ back in the old days of dialup internet where I was trying to find a handle for my Yahoo IM. “XL” stood for “excel”, and “99″ was the year I began taking a career in art seriously. I used that handle [with and without the underscore] for various art communities and in my early professional work as a comic colourist. Eventually I got lazy and shortened it to “aXL99″ since it was easier to type.
